Colossians 1:21-23
The gospel shows us both our deepest problem and God’s greatest provision.
In Colossians 1:21–23, Paul reminds us that apart from Christ we are alienated from God, hostile in our minds, and marked by sin. But through Jesus’ death on the cross, God has done what we never could—he has reconciled us to himself, presenting us holy and blameless in his sight.
This passage calls us to keep trusting in the hope of the gospel, not shifting our confidence to ourselves or to anything else. Only Jesus can reconcile us to God, and only by continuing to rest in his work rather than our own do we find assurance, stability, and lasting hope.
